Lee’s Surrender is an overshot draft designed by a prolific Rhode Island weaver called Weaver Rose. Originally designed as a coverlet, I enjoy taking elements of his original work and creating dish towels or pillow coverings. Perhaps I’ll make the coverlet one day!
Waffle weave is one of my favorites, and so versatile! This towel was made with alternating stripes of waffle weave in rainbow colors and white plain weave.
To commission towels like these, message me through the contact tab! Expect the price to be around $40-$45 per towel, depending on yarn availability.
It’s called tabby, it’s called plain weave, and it’s the most elemental form of weaving. Half the threads go up, the shuttle passes through, then the other half goes up, and the shuttle passes again. It’s the strongest weave structure, and it’s beauty in simplicity. I love designing for plain weave - message me today, and we’ll begin a plain weave project together!
A combination of hand dyed indigo and commercial orange, these towels blended my loves of color and waffle texture. Basically, the perfect towel. I’m always looking for an excuse to make an indigo bath, so if you’d like some naturally-dyed towels, you’ve come to the right place.
See? Plainweave is awesome.
White cotton waffle alternating with rainbow stripes - a joy to behold and to use!
Ok ok, I’ll stop with the waffle after this one. These were an experiment that worked out ok, but the qualities of the linen would have been better served with a different weave structure. That said, these linen towels are super absorbent and very very functional.
